Pets and the Weird Stuff They Do

We have all seen the weird stuff animals can do. It is as if they just have a button in their head that says "crazy mode" and it gets turned on at random.

I have been fortunate enough to grow up with both cats and dogs. Both of these animals are unique, and both crazy as all hell.

The first two dogs I remember properly, was a black Labrador, and a white Jack Russel mix. These dogs were both abused and hurt, and we rescued them. These were two very particular dogs. The Jack Russel, Lucky, was somewhat aggressive, and was not very fond of children. The Labrador, Cesar, was the exact opposite. He absolutely adored children and would play with them all the time.

One of his favorite games was to stand at the end of a very long hallway, and have my brother race his toy cars down the hallway. He would wait at the end of the hall, braced for the toy, and my brother would race it as fast as possible down the hall. He would race after the car, and get all excited when he would get it. The tail would be wagging, the butt would be shaking, and he would be so super excited when he got it, that he would race down the hall, let the toy fall at my brothers' feet, and race back down the hall as fast as he possibly can, and brace again immediately.

After them, we had 4 dogs, a Boerbul, Pote, a white Labrador, Roxy, a Jack Russel, Simba, and the puppy of the Labrador and Boerboel, Captain. These four were quite weird. Pote was a weird little pupper with a foot fetish, believe it or not. He would love to play with your feet, and when he would notice that you are wearing new shoes? Oh beware boys and girls, because he would not leave your feet alone. He would be all over the toes!

Roxy was the boss of the group. She ran the show with an iron fist. She would be all calm, and stare at the boys from her little spot in the grass, while chewing on her plastic bottle. We had to give bottles, because that girl would chew through a ball within two hours. When she decided that she had enough of all the noise, and wanted a certain spot for herself, she would walk over to the other side of the yard, and give a small little bark, and all the boys would instantly race after her, and go crazy, even though there would be absolutely nothing. And once they were barking at thin air, she would slowly take a stroll to the spot she wanted, and calmly take the spot. She would also terrorize our poor cat Titus. She actually knocked our poor cat Titus of the windowsill because he was wagging his tail while staring at her.

Simba was the weird little bunny with a screw loose. He would race up and down while he would bark, and if he wouldn't do th.at, he would stroll around the yard with one helluva attitude. But the absolute best things about him, as that he was an absolute coward. One specific incident is something that we will never forget. One night he was walking outside doing his business. As it was the middle of winter, our other dogs were all covered under a blanket and asleep. These dogs got up in tandem, walked down the stairs, and went outside, still covered in the blanket. Poor little Simba saw this blanket shrouded shape come down the stairs, and the poor thing nearly had a heart attack. He yelped at this sight, ran right around the corner, and started barking like mad. The other dogs immediately paid attention and started barking as well. Of course, this made him bark even more. It was absolutely hilarious.

Then there was Captain. The weirdest one of the lot. This dog would race up and down the yard, round and round in circles, for absolutely no reason. His favorite thing to do was to run into the house, go and lie on his neck, essentially choke himself, and start to wag that tail to such a degree that you didn't know if it was the butt wagging the tail, or the tail wagging the butt. This was one smart little puppy. You could see the gears turning in his wicked little head. The amount of times he would pull a trick on the other dogs was insane.

The we had the cats. Pax and Titus. Titus did his name full justice. He was named after the mad Roman Cesar. This cat would cause so much trouble. He would go out and cause trouble around the neighborhood with the other cats. After doing this, he would race back home, jump the fence, and set all the dogs running to the fence after the other cats. At this point in time, he would prowl up and down the yard, strutting all over the place, while all the other cats would be chased off by the dogs.

Pax was not that bad. She was the exact opposite of her name. Her name was Latin for peace, but she was very weird. She would run around in circles, and try to play with Titus' tail, all the while annoying the life out of the poor thing. She would run down the yard, and hide in the tall grass, all the while thinking she was a panther or tiger. She would then jump on and try attacking anyone who would walk past.

Then there was Kiara. Now this dog had the energy of an Energizer bunny on crack. She would run up and down the hallway, racing as fast as possible, jumping from the bed to the couch over and over again. She would take two pieces of cloth that were tied together as a toy, and she would shake her head so hard from side to side that you would think she gets brain damage.

So I have had a fair few weird pets. And this is the thing. No matter how weird, or how naughty, or how stubborn these pets are, we all love them. They are children in the family. You love them as if they were family, simply because they are. They may only be a part of your life for a short time, but you are part of their lives forever. You are they entirety of their lives, so please love them as much as you possibly can. Animals are pure and innocent and have only love to give. So please give them the same love in return, cause they deserve all they can get.
